These are the terms for booking and riding the Houw Hoek Zipline. The indemnity at the bottom of this page is the document you will sign with us before you go, so it is worth a look first.

You book the day, not a time. There is no slot to choose. Arrive whenever it suits you between 09:00 and 17:00 and we will get you on the cable.
Booking ahead guarantees your ride and is the quickest way through when you arrive. We can often fit people in who turn up without a booking, but on weekends, long weekends and school holidays we would rather you had it locked in.
R295 per person, which includes all the safety equipment and trained operators.
About 30 minutes from arrival to departure. That is the whole visit, not the length of the ride. It covers getting kitted up, crossing the suspension bridge, walking up the path to the start, the ride down and unclipping at the bottom.
There are two parallel cables, so two of you go down alongside each other, one on each. You are never attached to one another. We do not do tandem rides.
Cancel or move your booking free of charge up to 24 hours before your booked day.
Inside 24 hours we cannot refund or move a booking, including for anyone in your group who does not arrive.
If you booked through a travel agent, an online travel agent or any other partner, their terms apply and you will need to arrange changes through them.
We run in almost all weather. Now and then the wind or rain comes in hard enough that you would not enjoy it, and when that happens we would rather move your booking to another day.
If another day does not work, we will refund you. We cannot refund travel you arranged yourself.
We are at Houw Hoek Hotel, just off the N2 at Houw Hoek near Grabouw, about an hour from Cape Town on the road towards Hermanus, the Overberg and the Garden Route. Please check traffic and road conditions before you set off.
You will sign this before you ride
Please read this document carefully before signing. By signing, all visitors and participants acknowledge that they understand this indemnity, disclaimer and waiver (“the Indemnity”) and agree to be legally bound by it. Anyone who does not agree must not participate in the Activity or board any transport provided.
The Activity is subject to the terms and conditions of Houw Hoek Zipline, which are available on the Houw Hoek Zipline website, and by signing this document I agree to be bound by those terms and conditions.
All visitors and participants take part in any transport and/or activities entirely at their own risk.
“Houw Hoek Zipline” means, collectively and individually as the context requires: Cape Canopy Tours (Pty) Ltd, Houw Hoek Hotel, any landowners on whose property the Activity is conducted, and all of their respective owners, directors, employees, contractors, facilitators, agents, affiliated companies, service providers, and any third parties engaged to provide services related to the Activity.
“Activity” means the Houw Hoek Zipline experience, including but not limited to sliding along the zipline cables, using platforms, walking to and from the start and end points, and being transported in any vehicle operated by any of the parties included in the definition of Houw Hoek Zipline.
1. I acknowledge the serious dangers and risks associated with the Activity, including but not limited to heights, high-speed movement, falls, natural hazards such as rockfall, tree or branch fall, strong winds, and the presence of venomous or dangerous animals, reptiles and insects.
2. I agree to follow all safety instructions provided by Houw Hoek Zipline facilitators at all times.
3. I acknowledge that I am required to behave responsibly throughout the Activity and must not place myself, staff or other participants at risk.
4. I agree that I will not touch, alter or interfere with any safety equipment, cables, harness systems or structures unless expressly instructed to do so by a facilitator.
5. I understand that the Activity takes place at considerable height and speed and that all clipping, braking, and safety procedures are managed by trained facilitators.
6. I warrant that I (or my child) am in good health, not pregnant, and able to participate responsibly.
7. If signing for a minor, I warrant that I am the legal guardian or have full legal capacity and authority to sign on behalf of the child.
8. I waive any claims of any nature against Houw Hoek Zipline arising from any injury, harm, death, loss or damage (including loss of or damage to property) suffered while participating in the Activity, whether caused by an act or omission or negligence of Houw Hoek Zipline.
9. I indemnify and hold harmless Houw Hoek Zipline from any claim by my spouse, partner, dependants, my child or any third party arising from or related to my or my child’s participation in the Activity.
10. I indemnify Houw Hoek Zipline against any claims arising from exposure to communicable diseases, whether directly or indirectly linked to participation in the Activity.
11. I indemnify Houw Hoek Zipline against all legal costs (on an attorney-and-own-client scale) relating to any claim connected to my participation.
12. This agreement is governed by the laws of the Republic of South Africa. I consent to the jurisdiction of South African courts for any dispute arising from this agreement.
13. This agreement is binding on my executors, curators, liquidators and heirs.
14. Houw Hoek Zipline may, at its discretion, arrange emergency medical treatment for me or my child. I agree to reimburse all related costs directly.
15. Houw Hoek Zipline may refuse participation or require me to stop the Activity at any time for any reason. Any refund, if applicable, is at their sole discretion.
16. Houw Hoek Zipline is not liable for any indirect, economic, consequential or special loss.
